ABSTRACT

This present study aims to examine the influence of ethical leadership behavior, leader-member exchange on employee job involvement and organizational commitment. A total of 250 participants from private owned organizations in Lagos state where use in the study, and 250 questionnaires were collected after the completion.  Data were collected using Ethical Leadership Scale (Brown Trevino, & Harrison, 2005), LMX-multidimensional scale (Liden & Maslyn, 1998), Job Involvement Questionnaire (JIQ) (Kanungo, 1982) and Organizational Commitment Scale (Allen and Meyer, 1990). The collected data were analyzed by Pearson Product Moment Correlation and Regression Analysis. The result of this research shows that there is no relationship between ethical leadership behavior and job involvement. There was also a significant positive relationship between ethical leadership behavior and organizational commitment. This revels that the higher the ethical behaviours displayed by the leader, the higher the commitment the employee shows to the organization. Furthermore, the study revealed that there is a significant positive relationship between leader-member exchange and job involvement. That is, leader-member relationship increases the job involvement. Finally, there is a significant positive relationship between leader-member exchange and organizational commitment. This also goes to show that as leader-member exchange. The findings were discussed using appropriate theories and reviews.
